Aurélie Mathigot

Visual artist, photographer, embroiderer, lives and works in Paris.

Aurélie Mathigot is very attached to the practice of photography, which she embroiders in places, to freeze a movement or emphasize a detail, but in parallel with this work, she creates two-dimensional sculptures in rope, wool and cotton, using the crochet technique and combining it with other materials from our daily lives: wood, wax, ceramics.

Her work is built around an illusion of reality: giving a new appearance, conceiving a reality-textile of what surrounds us, with an idea of covering and invading.
