Designed in 2001 by Ronan Bouroullec this centrepiece was produced by Cappellini as part of the Progetto Oggetto collection.

Its elongated form is cut from solid bleached beech. Long parallel slots, created by milling transform the mass of the wood into a network of slender, flexible-looking ribs. Their progressive curvature creates two shallow depressions and gives the object the appearance of a light, almost textile basket.


Its value lies both in the economy of the design and in the precision of its manufacture: the delicacy of the openwork requires rigorous execution to prevent breakage or distortion.

Ronan Bouroullec and Erwan Bouroullec occupy a major place in the history of contemporary design.
